WJEA provides advisers with the necessary tools to teach their students how to become better journalists.

Our offerings include:

  • Critique service – All members of WJEA are eligible to have their student publications (broadcast, newspaper, yearbook, website, or newsmagazine) critiqued. The cost is $40 per publication for both the critique and Emerald Award consideration. Questions or concerns? Please contact the critique service chair, Sandra Coyer, at [email protected].
  • Professional development opportunities – Teachers can earn clock hours by attending our workshops and conferences, as well as our virtual classes online.
  • Curriculum – Our network of teachers can help you with lesson plans, tutorials and rubrics.
