Your donations allow WJEA to fund scholarships for students and grants for advisers. And in these uncertain times where the media is under constant attack, we need your support to build up our future journalists. Here is how you can help:

Give Big Campaign

Washington’s Give Big Campaign is May 3 and 4, 2022. Click the link below to donate on those days. Check back for updated links early each May.

Give as much and as often as you like. These donations support scholarships for students, grants for teachers and fund several learning opportunities like summer camps and one-day workshops.

The Lu Flannery Memorial Scholarship Fund
Lu Flannery, one of the pioneers of our organization, died just weeks after her 95th birthday. To honor Lu’s legacy, several WJEA members have expressed their wishes to donate to the Lu Flannery Outstanding Journalist Scholarship fund – this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student journalist each spring. Simply designate your donation by adding a note on the form.

Lu advised “The Totem”, the award-winning student newspaper at Seattle’s Lincoln High School and served for many years on the WJEA board as  Treasurer. Lu died peacefully on August 6, 2013, in her apartment at the Ida Culver Retirement Community, surrounded by friends. The Seattle Times ran her obituary on August 9, 2013.
