J-Day East 2023 Canceled

WJEA seeks new venue for 2024

ANNOUNCEMENT:  THERE WILL BE NO J-DAY EAST IN 2023

WJEA is sorry to announce that there will be no Journalism Day East at Whitworth University this fall.

Our key organizer, Whitworth Prof. Erica Salkin, Ph.D, announced that her schedule has become too demanding for her to continue as J-Day coordinator. Unfortunately, her effort to find another Whitworth faculty member to step in has not been successful.

WJEA is truly grateful to Prof. Salkin for her incredible support and gift of time for the past nine years. Thanks to her and WJEA member Pia Longinotti, CJE, adviser at Freeman High School, who together recruited speakers and planned Journalism Day East each year. The day reached its top attendance ever in 2022, with a maximum capacity of 200 attendees.

WJEA is currently seeking a new venue to bring back Journalism Day East in 2024 and beyond. Suggestions and invitations are welcome!
