<p>One of the many benefits of WJEA membership is the opportunity to order a beautiful plaque, engraved with the name of your top graduating senior. <strong>Orders are limited to one free plaque per WJEA member, regardless of the number of media advised.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The first 50 members ordering plaques receive one FREE plaque</strong>, if ordering by April 30. <em>Orders placed after April 30 are not guaranteed delivery before the end of May. It takes 3-4 weeks from the time the order is placed until delivery. No plaque orders will be accepted after May 30.</em></p>
<p><em></em>Mounted on a 6 X 8 inch wooden backing, the metal plate is engraved with the WJEA logo, and honors your chosen student for their dedication and hard work.</p>

No more than two grants may be awarded to the same school. The summer workshop is <strong>Aug. 8-11, 2011, at Central Washington University</strong> in Ellensburg.  Your adviser must be a current WJEA member for you to qualify. <strong>Grant application deadline is May 25. Applicants will be notified of status by June 5.</strong></p>

<div><strong>Michael Smith, WJEA 2012 Adviser of the Year:</strong>  Mike, who advises newspaper and yearbook at Ballard High School in Seattle, was nominated for this honor by his students. He will be WJEA&#8217;s featured speaker at the State Banquet (Aug. 7) held during our 2012 WJEA Summer Adviser Workshop in Ellensburg.</div>

<div><strong>Joy Lessard, WJEA&#8217;s Dorothy McPhillips Award, WJEA&#8217;s highest honor. </strong>This award is presented only when an individual has made significant contributions to Scholastic Journalism over time. Joy, who advises newspaper and yearbook at Ellensburg High School, has trained countless new advisers during her Beginning Advising session at WJEA summer workshops. Joy will retire at the end of this school year, but has agreed to participate in the national JEA Mentorship Program, and will continue to work with new advisers year-round.</div>

<div><strong>Sarah Moore, Washington Student Journalist of the Year. </strong>Sarah is a senior at Yelm High School, where she excels in yearbook photojournalism and design, and serves as senior yearbook editor.</div>

<div><strong>Olivia Smith, Lu Flannery Outstanding Journalist Award. </strong>Olivia&#8217;s leadership over four years has helped to reestablish the &#8220;Cleveland Journal&#8221; newspaper at Seattle&#8217;s Cleveland High School, where there had been no paper for 12 years.</div>
